Monty Don’s most beloved tool.
The design of the planting trowel has its heritage in the beginning of the 20th century, and it can be used for planting bulbs, seedlings and small plants. The large head is also very effective at breaking and turning soil. The planting trowel is hand forged and sharpened on both sides making it the perfect tool to work fast and with precision. The Sneeboer planting trowels are the garden tool of choice of the gardeners at the Dutch Keukenhof Exhibition where it is used every year to make the plant holes for millions of bulbs. In addition to that, and as a testimony to its usefulness, it is the favorite garden tool of English tv-gardener Monty Don!
Usage:
The way to use this trowel is totally different from the norm. Instead of the usual scooping action, you use it the same way one would use an axe. The weight is heavy and the balance is different. Penetrate the soil (you need the weight), then move the trowel forwards and backwards and you have a perfect planting hole.
To give you an idea of how successful this tool is: all the bulbs (millions) at the famous Dutch Keukenhof Exhibition are planted using this special trowel.
This planting trowel is hand-forged from stainless steel and fitted with an ash hardwood handle from FSC Certified forests.
