Just like people, plants need breathing room, while most plants can get the air they need from the top, having adequate circulation in the soil is critical for growing healthy grass. To achieve that balance, Sneeboer launched the hollow tine aerator.
This is a garden tool that reduces soil compaction of the grass by pulling up plugs of soil and allowing oxygen, water and nutrients to reach the roots of the grass. The lawn aeration strengthens the roots and strong roots equal a lush, green lawn.
Advantages of Aeration: • If water evaporates at the surface the water will come up with the necessary nutrients given to the roots. (capillary action) • The holes will also reduce water-run-off so less irrigation is needed. • Micro colonies of beneficial organisms living in our soil stay healthy. Lawn aeration may be performed when the grass actively growing so from May until September. It’s important to allow at least 4 weeks of good growing weather to give grass a change to fill the open aerator holes. To achieve deep aeration, you should aerate a heavy irrigation or a few days of rain.
