A classic Japanese pocket knife with over a century of heritage, handmade by Kanekoma—the last remaining makers officially permitted to use the Higonokami name. Compact, simple, and satisfyingly solid, this is the kind of tool that becomes an everyday companion. Ideal for light garden tasks, opening boxes, sharpening pencils, or just carrying for the pleasure of a well-made object in your pocket.

Made with SK steel for a sharp, durable edge, and fitted with clean nickel handles that develop a gentle patina over time. The friction folding mechanism is traditional and refreshingly straightforward: no locks, just a smooth pivot and a thumb lever to open.

The Higonokami knife has a long history. First made in 1894 in Miki, Japan, and originally named for its popularity in the Higo region (modern-day Kumamoto), it became a staple of Japanese craftsmanship. Today, Kanekoma remains the sole holder of the original trademark—producing each piece in their small, time-worn workshop using traditional methods.
