Handcrafted in a family-run factory in Sanjo, Japan, these snips embody a deep commitment to craftsmanship, precision, and time-honored technique.

Care Instructions

  • With regular use, all steel blades will stain, rust, and gradually lose their edge over time. To keep your tool in top condition, clean the blades regularly with a Niwaki Clean Mate to remove sap and rust, sharpen with a Niwaki #1000 grit stone as needed, and apply a light coat of Niwaki Camellia Oil for protection.
  • Japanese steel is hard and sharp, and can be more brittle than some people are used to - it will chip if abused.
  • Cut diagonally across branches (not straight across) so you cut along the fibres
  • Pay attention to our maximum cut dimensions, and don’t overdo it.

Orders ship from our warehouse in upstate NY via UPS, FedEx, or USPS and usually leave our warehouse in 1–3 business days. If you need it sooner, expedited shipping is available at checkout.
