Handmade in Paris from black terracotta clay and finished with Astier de Villatte’s signature white glaze, the Colbert Vase is a part of a collection that blends the formality of Louis XIV with the soft, sculptural lines of Botero—classic, unexpected, and unmistakably Astier. Stamped with the atelier’s monogram and the initials of the artisan who crafted it, it’s a piece that carries its story in every curve.
Founded in 1996 by Benoît Astier de Villatte and Ivan Pericoli—alongside friends from the École des Beaux-Arts—the Paris-based atelier set out to revive the forgotten beauty of decorative arts and overlooked objects. What began as a ceramics workshop soon evolved into something much larger: a letterpress printing house (one of the last in the world to use lead type), a publishing imprint, and a perfume studio. Astier de Villatte began as an exchange between artists and friends, gradually building a devoted cult following—a living archive of craftsmanship where history, artistry, and imagination collide.
